Usually residential ends posts are 1 7/8" or 2 3/8" so we stock them both. if you are building a commercial fence or heavier fence then residential then you might see 2 3/8" end post used on light commercial fences and 2 7/8" on moderate to heavy fences. it's not as often you see 4" end post or 6 5/8" unless it's to hang a gate.
When you have corner it's important to make sure it's strong enough to handle stretching the fence from multiple directions so it's common to find 1 7/8" or 2 3/8" on residential and 2 2/3" to 4" on commercial. we stock posts up to 4" for your convenience.
Line post for chain link fences come in many sizes and lengths. If you are setting them in concrete then we recommend trying to dig 24" and have the post long enough to get concrete around them. residential line post start at 1 5/8" in diameter and go up to 1 7/8". When installing a commercial fence you have to take into consideration that there might be heavier wire, screen, slats or barb wire above and select the correct size. Commercial fences rarely have smaller than 1 7/8" to 2 3/8" post and on some spec'd out projects can even have 2 7/8" or 4" line posts.
Top rail sizes vary but 1 5/8" is mostly used with commercial or industrial chain link fences that have top rail or even used as bracing or for track that slide gates hang on. We carry .065, SS20, SS40, LVF20 and LVF40 and comes in 21' swedged end or 24' long lengths.
Residential fences do not usually have the same size top rail as commercial fences so a 1 3/8" size top rail is used and will work for most residential applications
All come in 24' lengths and can be cut to fit your needs, they also come in lighter weight .065 up to 2 3/8" and then the lightest you can get is LVF20 or 20 weight for 2 7/8". 4" and above start at a heavy duty LVF40 or 40 weight and can add up so make sure you get you cuts correct.
